GTSS 10 Year Reunion ‘Les Mis’

GTSS have performed Les Miserables twice in their 10 year history. The first time was in August 2005 and for the first time in a show I have been involved with they received 2 standing ovations at the end of ACT 1 and a total of 9 standing ovations for 7 shows.

Due to the popularity of the show and the success of Beauty and the Beast the year before there was an extended run of 10 performances and 10 standing ovations for the 2011 production of Les Mis. There were initial technical issues with the revolving stage which meant the cast missed out on a dress rehearsal. As usual they pulled out all the stops for a successful opening night and a sell out for the full run.

It was great to watch some of the scenes again at the reunion show and you could hear a pin drop in the auditorium when Alex sang ‘Bring Him Home’ which brought the house down at the end.

GTSS 10 Year Reunion ‘WWRY’

It’s hard to believe how quickly the time has gone by since GTSS performed We Will Rock You in July/August 2007. It just happened to be the hottest week of the summer and the glam makeup was melting off everyone. The show was a huge success and a total sellout despite the fact that it was also on at the Sunderland Empire the same week. It was great to see some excerpts at the reunion with my personal favourite being ‘No One But You (Only the Good Die Young)’ sang by Kate Knight and in the original shows by Kayleigh Gage and Caroline Bateson.

GTSS 10 Year reunion ‘Rent’

It’s so very hard to decide which is my favourite GTSS show over the last 10 years but ‘Rent’ has to be one of the strongest contenders. This section of the reunion show brought tears to my eyes especially when they started playing the video and totally sent me over the edge when Colin Burnicle sang ‘I’ll Cover You’. Magical.
